Jim Larrañaga, Lon Kruger, Fran Dunphy and Dianne Nolan are this year's recipients of the Joe Lapchick Character Award. This is the 16th year the award will be presented to those who have shown the character traits of Lapchick, who coached at St. John's and with the New York Knicks. The quartet will be honored at a luncheon on Sept. 24 in New York. Larrañaga has spent the last 53 years coaching in college since he got his start as an assistant at Davidson College in 1971.

NBC Sports has been without a permanent analyst in the 18th tower all year. That's not going to change for the U.S. Open. The network says Dan Hicks will be calling the even-numbered holes with Brandel Chamblee. Mike Tirico will do the odd-numbered holes with Brad Faxon. 

Lando Norris scored his first career F1 win at the Miami Grand Prix and McLaren this year now has scored wins in F1, Formula E and IndyCar. Now begins the most important part of the IndyCar season — the next three weekends are spent at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the buildup to the May 26 Indianapolis 500.
